John Lombardo began playing soccer at 3 years old. Now, after he completes his senior year of high school, he will play soccer as an official Polar Bear at Ohio Northern University in Ada. ONU’s soccer team is currently ranked No. 4 in its division.

“I love training and playing [soccer], especially as a goalie stopping other people’s’ shots,” Lombardo said.

He committed to the university in June 2016 after attending ONU’s top recruit camp. He said that the application process was easy for him because he wasn’t required to write essays or submit letters of recommendation.

Lombardo will major in mechanical engineering at ONU, but his ultimate goal is to play professional soccer.

“Soccer has taught me that you must work hard for what you want in life and nothing comes easy, no matter what it is,” he said.
