I recently visited a psychic, and it was the most surprising and interesting way that I have ever spent money.

I recently had the chance to visit a psychic, and it was a magical experience.

Their claim of a sixth sense makes some roll their eyes, yet I seem to have an infatuation with the unknown world that psychics claim to see and feel. Although I was warned by my parents that psychics were “quacks” who were just after money, I felt it was necessary to see what people have been talking about for hundreds of years.

When I entered the small shop that resembled a boutique, I was hit with a dim light and familiar smell that could have been peppermint. Although the room was shadowed, it did not feel dangerous or threatening. There were a couple of clear crystals around the room, but all I could think about was how strongly it resembled a home. Suddenly a warm old woman with a shawl wrapped around her shoulders entered  and asked if I was the one who had made the appointment for the evening. I said I was, and so I was quickly ushered to a small room with a circular table and two chairs.

At first I was told to offer up my hands for a reading, and I was told about the usual life, heart, head and fate line. Next by my palm lines, I was told that I would have two serious relationships (I’m a player), the size of my heart (large), and some personality traits like my kindness, generosity, charm and compassion (duh.) She also discussed possible future health issues. The description was straight-forward and seemed truthful and knowledgeable. I think it was in the way she said it with a straightforward tone, that didn’t seem phony to me.

Next came the tarot cards. She pulled my hands up to the deck and told me to warm them so  the cards could use my energy to allow her to read them.  I put my hands down, and tried to will my energy to pass onto the cards, because I obviously didn’t want to be a disappointment.  After around two minutes, she removed my hands, picked up the cards  and quickly shuffled them, then proceeded to close her eyes to concentrate and  mumbled “help me spirits, take me on this path, help me connect to this soul,” and chose six cards from the deck.

When I asked her how she decided on which cards she chose, she told me that some just had a specific energy that she had picked up from me. (Yes!)  It was crazy to imagine that I actually had energy that could be felt by a stranger, and I have to say I was very intrigued that my energy could be felt in the cards after  two minutes.

Then, she laid them flat on the table, and described my future romantic life, my aspirations for the future and career, my personal hobbies and my destiny.  She said that I would marry a foreigner who would sweep me off my feet (oy vey.)  I also learned that nursing was a good choice for my career as I am a giving person, and I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that some of the things that she said held a certain amount of truth, such as mentioning my passion for music, performing on stage, and somehow knowing that I was a first generation American.  When she mentioned that, I went completely crazy, how had she known that? I asked, and she pronounced that the spirits had told her.

The final activity that the psychic focused on was astrology. She asked me the day, month, year and time that I was born. From that information, she could tell me my characteristics, saying that my house of Mercury rules over all communications, human interactions and travel. She also mentioned some of my passions to chat, meet new people and broaden my horizons. Something that was even more intriguing was she could tell me about my past life, and who I was before I came down to Earth again and became who I am today. Apparently, I was a Himalayan man who performed on stage. She also told me my strengths and weaknesses, and which birthdays my soulmate, friends, and enemies could have been born on.

Overall, I thought that my session with the psychic was an interesting and positive  experience, and it definitely was an enjoyable way to spend my Saturday night. I learned a lot about myself (who knew I was Himalayan!) I would recommend this experience for everyone to go to at least once in their life, and although you don’t necessarily have to believe anything that is told to you, I would like to say to keep an open mind in the process, and consider the fact that maybe a sixth sense exists.  People should go so they can understand what the fuss is about and make their own decisions on the argument of whether psychics are real or fake.  I have to say that I believe her words, but at the same time I know that the future isn’t set in stone, and in the end I make my own destiny.
