The Solon Spirit Boys have been a tradition among seniors at Solon High School (SHS) for many years and continue to help build a spirited and uplifted community among students at various athletic events. Zach Rosen tells us about what it’s like to be a part of the legacy.

Q: Why do you think you were picked as a Spirit Boy?

A: I think I was picked as a Spirit Boy because I embody great school spirit, I’m an athlete myself, and I would love to see how Solon becomes more spirited for more sports.

Q: What are some things you do as a spirit boy?

A: We actually run an Instagram account that vocalizes the school sports games to more people who don’t know where they are, and then we go to most of the sports games and try to be the loudest fans and cheer on the sports teams.

Q: What is your favorite Solon sport to support?

A: Boys Soccer.

Q: As a Spirit Boy, you are an example to the student body of what school spirit is, why is school spirit so important?

A: School spirit is so important because it brings the school together, and not only the school it brings the city together as well.

Q: How will you choose the next Spirit Boy?

A: It’s gonna be a pretty tough decision, but I’m gonna have to choose one of the kids with the best spirit, and one that really loves Solon.

Below is more insight from another Spirit Boy Evan Bell, who explains the Solon Spirit Boys role and why they are so important to SHS.

As the year goes on, the Spirit Boys will continue to uphold the standards of exhibiting the best school spirit, and will also be on the lookout for passing it down to the future 2023 Spirit Boys.
