The Solon High School girls basketball team has started the season again, with many supporters. Their first game was Nov. 23 against Green High School at Solon’s home court. Coach Trish Kruse and senior Erica Olszewski give their insight on the upcoming season. First up is an interview with Kruse.
Q: What are your hopes and goals for the season?
A: To be a better team every day we take the court. To win. Contend for a league championship. And win a district title.
Q: What would you like to improve this year?
A: Our overall depth, work ethic and overall knowledge of the game.
Q: What strategies do you use to prepare for a game?
A: Watch team and opponent game film.
Q: How do you motivate your team?
A: Team goals. Lead by example – compete in everything we do. Team building activities.
Q: How do you promote teamwork in games?
A: By showing them good examples of team play in film.
Q: What is something that is overlooked about basketball?
A: It is an outstanding team sport that challenges you both physically and mentally. It is the most rewarding sport because of the importance of each individual member of the team.
