Fashion trends are subject to change every so often due to popularity and what is currently in style. Along with the seasons changing, certain items become more popular, and it’s likely to see people engage in ways that they can fit into the current fashion trends. Leopard and cheetah print have been seen on runaways and in major magazines such as Vogue. More people than usual around the school are seen wearing these prints. Opinions vary towards styling this fashion piece and how it is worn.
President of Fashion Club Senior Sam Achim shares how she would style leopard and cheetah print.
“You can style it many ways, but I would style it with colors like black and pink, a slick back and eyeliner,” Achim said.
As seen in Vogue, some choose to use one leopard print piece as an accent, often pairing it with black to step up the impact.
Senior Vince Lanzara, has other ideas about the right way to style the pattern.
“I would style those prints with black or grey jeans, it makes the animal print pop,” Lanzara said.
Vice President of Fashion Club senior Jayla Miller said she thinks animal print should only be worn in certain situations.
“I like it, and I think it’s cute especially for a concert, but everyday wear, you’ll start to look like a wild animal,” Miller said.
Achim also said the appeal of animal print makes her see it as a cultural factor, in which they’re vibrant and they make people’s outfits more unique.
Some think it is controversial whether or not animal print should be worn to formal occasions or not. Miller said she believes that colors like black and white are better for these occasions.
“Honestly, I feel like if you’re going somewhere nice, it is better to stick to neutral colors,” Miller said.
Although the leopard and cheetah print has come back in style, many believe it will not stay for long and not be as popular.
“I feel like it has been in style since the 90s, but yes, it should stay in style because it is classy and cute,” Achim said.
Lanzara has similar thoughts on whether or not the trend should be here to stay or not.
“I think it is versatile and creative and many people know how to dress it up or down,” Lanzara said.
Overall, everybody has their own takes on the growing trend. Achim shares her controversy about whether or not it is reasonable to mix and match cheetah and leopard print together.
“Low key yeah, not every day, especially for a costume though. But for school, either one or the other is probably acceptable.”
