The SHS girls lacrosse season is upon us, and they have officially begun practices. With hopes for a successful season, seniors Talia Millet and Jessica Lynn give their insight in the interviews below.
Q: What are your hopes and goals for the upcoming season?
Millet: For us to have a winning record and win two playoff games.
Lynn: Because it is my senior season, I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone on the team whether it’s JV or Varsity, as well as our coach– I definitely want to get to know him more and make more friends on the team.
Q: What do you love about lacrosse?
Millet: I love the friendships you make through the team and the pace of the game
Lynn: I love it because there is a good balance between having fun and taking it seriously and getting some work done.
Q: What is something people don’t know about lacrosse?
Millet: There’s a spot on the field called “X,” which is an area behind the goal that people can play at both offensively and defensively.
Lynn: People don’t know that there are a lot of rules, and it takes a lot of time to get used to it and get to know the game.
Q: How have you improved throughout your high school career?
Millet: My passing and catching skills have definitely improved since my freshman year. I attribute this to trying to get outside as often as possible to play wall ball or find a friend to pass with.
Lynn: I think due to the everyday practices, I have definitely improved with my stick skills and just talking to people too, because I’ve learned how to talk to people in situations where we are losing and in situations where we are winning.
Q: How do you feel about the incoming players?
Millet: I’m so excited to meet all the new players this year. We’ve all spent a lot of time together throughout pre-season, and I’m so happy to see all of the new faces.
Lynn: I think we have a really good group of incoming players, and we also not only have freshmen starting, but we also have freshmen, sophomores, juniors and even seniors starting and they seem to be pretty good.
