Seniors Benji Strosaker and Jake Taylor are trying to recruit more members for Christian Club this upcoming school year due to not having many members join the club last year. In order to attract new members, they have renamed it Comet Christian Club.
Q: Why did you decide to create this club?
Strosaker: For me personally, at my church, all my friends are a lot older than me, and I’m the only high schooler there. I knew there was a Jewish Culture Club and an Islamic Culture Club, and it made sense for there to be a Christianity Club as well. I just want to help out Christians at school and grow our community.
Q: What is the purpose of this club?
Strosaker: To help people understand the Christian faith better.
Taylor: To bring a sense of community to our school.
Q: What activities or events will your club offer?
Strosaker: There will be a consistent Bible study. We will kind of get a consensus of what the people in the club want to have at the meetings. Second semester, if we get enough people to join, we plan on doing some outreach stuff.
Taylor: Lots of games, food and snacks.
Q: Why do you think this club is important for students?
Strosaker: It’s a chance for students to grow their faith and understanding of the Christian culture. Even if they’re not a Christian, it can still be helpful to them to learn more about the religion, and we can answer any questions they might have.
Q: What long term goals do you have for this club?
Strosaker: We just want to grow the club and hopefully do our outreach event next semester and keep the club going for years to come. Last year a group of seniors tried to make this club but there were only 10 people who met twice. We want to just make it better.
Q: Do you have anything you would like to add?
Strosaker: All are welcome
If this club seemed interesting to you, you can see the Comet Christian Club at their next club meeting on Sept. 18 in Seitz’s room. They will continue to meet bi-weekly from that meeting on.
