The Solon Boys Soccer team season is in full swing, but senior Noah Braun has had to sit out for most of the season due to injury. Braun suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear over the summer in a soccer tournament in Perrysburg, OH.

Braun’s head coach, Ryan Greenhill, praises Braun’s talent and also notes the effect of losing him for the time.

“Noah has been crucial to our teams development the past two seasons,” Greenhill said. “Losing a player with his experience and talent is always very difficult.”

Teammate and good friend to Braun, Senior Danny Myeroff, also sees a big impact with the loss of Braun on the field.

“[Braun] is a huge piece of our defense,” Myeroff said. “He played aggressive and was a spark for our team.”

Off the field, Myeroff notices a difference in the way the team acts.

“It’s weird to describe it,” Myeroff said. “It’s just quieter without his usual tenacity [in the locker room].”

Braun says he was devastated because he thought he was going to be unable to play in his senior year, but he was soon proved wrong.

“My surgeon, Dr. Spindler, gave me the option of postponing surgery until after the season,” Braun said. “I would do physical therapy three days a week for just a 20 percent chance to return before the playoffs, I was extremely excited.”

Finally, good news came for Braun. He was recently eligible to play in his first game of the season on Sept. 29.

“I have played in a few games so far,” Braun stated. “I recently tweaked my ACL, so I was out for one week.”

Braun’s setback was only a minor one, but it halted him from playing for the time being.

Braun was a star defender and the team is back to its winning ways with him back in the lineup. Solon will continue their playoff run on Wed, Oct 24 against Stow.
