As you browse through the giant list of clubs at Solon High School, one that might have caught your attention is Cooking Club. Originally a service club to help with hunger relief for the needy, Cooking Club was officially founded three years ago as a place in which people with or without experience in the kitchen can hang out together and learn new cooking techniques and how to flavor the food. However, it should be noted that students with allergies to certain foods might want to exercise caution if attending. Senior Ashlyn Fitzgerald, club manager, gives her input on the club below.
Q: How long have you been an officer at the Cooking Club?
A: I have been a Cooking Club officer for two years.
Q: What meals are you planning to cook this year?
A: We aren’t sure yet. We usually create Google Forms so students can vote on what they want to make.
Q: How did you find your passion for cooking?
A: I began to bake in my freshman year of high school, and it is now one of my favorite hobbies.
Q: Could you give a brief overview of your club?
A: Every meeting we start by giving our the recipe and the supplies for the dish. Then once everyone is broken up in to teams they can start creating their own version of whatever we’re cooking/baking that day.
Q: What is your favorite part about Cooking Club?
A: My favorite part of the Cooking Club is getting to cook so many different dishes from different cultures.
Q: What can we expect at meetings?
A: You can expect to have lots of fun creating amazing dishes with your friends!
